Outreach – Plan a Choir Visit to a Rehab Center
Overview
In the spirit of Christ’s compassion and healing, our parish seeks to bring joy, comfort, and spiritual encouragement to residents of a rehab center in Detroit. Through music, personal interaction, and thoughtful gifts, we aim to share the love of Christ and the presence of His Church with those who may feel isolated or forgotten. This ministry will be conducted once or twice a year, involving our parish choir and volunteers.
1. Planning and Coordination
- Form a ministry team to organize the visit and coordinate with the rehab center staff.
- Schedule the visit date(s) and confirm logistics with the facility.
- Ensure compliance with any health and safety protocols required by the center.
2. Choir Preparation
- Select and rehearse appropriate musical pieces for performance.
- Prepare group songs for room-to-room singing that are uplifting and familiar.
3. Gift Bag Assembly
- Gather items for gift bags: hygiene products, socks, diabetic-friendly sweets, word searches, and coloring books.
- Assemble gift bags with care and prayer, ensuring each one is complete and presentable.
4. Day-of Execution
- Arrive early to set up and meet with facility staff.
- Perform a short concert in a common area with the choir.
- Divide into small groups to visit residents room-to-room, singing and distributing gift bags.
- Greet each resident personally with warmth and kindness.
5. Follow-Up
- Send thank-you notes to the rehab center staff and volunteers.
- Share photos and reflections in the parish bulletin or social media.
- Evaluate the visit and plan for future improvements.
Conclusion

By bringing joy and companionship to those in recovery, we reflect the healing presence of Christ. With continued prayer, dedication, and collaboration, this outreach can become a cherished tradition that blesses both the residents and our parish.
